Changing to a new mail client doesn't have to be difficult, as long as you have a proper guide to help you. :) In this part of the introduction I will try to show you how to import and migrate all your information from your old mail client. Clients I will talk about are Outlook, Netscape and Eudora. Big topic, so buckle up. :)
If you go to Tools > Import, you will get this window, here you have 3 choices, I'll talk about two of them, importing email and address books.
Now, the first I will do is import mail from my other account, I check the box which says mail, then press next.
Depending on which client you used before switching to Thunderbird, you check the box, I will for this example use Eudora, press next.
As you see, you will get a notification of what Thunderbird has imported from your other mail client, the last step to finish the import is to press the "Finish" button. :)
As you see, I've highlighted my folder for imported mail. Thunderbird will make a sub folder in your local folders, so your mail doesn't get mixed up with other mail. To import mail from another client simply repeat the procedure. Now, was that difficult?
Importing your address book is a must for many, to import your address-book from the other client, check for address book and press next.
Choose what client you want to import from and press next, I will use Outlook Express in this example.
Once again you get a notification of what action Thunderbird has done, this message will vary depending on what type of address book you have imported.
Opening your address book, you will see Thunderbird has added the imported book to the list of addresses.
